Oil the chains, pump up the tyres, stuff the panniers full, depart for Whitehaven.
From August 5th to the 9th Joan and I will be spanning the northern Pennines by bike to raise much needed funds for Restore (York) to provide homes and give hope to people who are homeless.
The 152 mile routes follows the line of the Roman Wall built by Hadrian to keep out the Scots. We go through Carlisle, Haltwhistle and Hexham en route to Newcastle and Tynemouth.
